Hello!
There have been quite a few changes recently when it comes to voting. All Michigan voters now have the right to vote early in every statewide and federal elections. In those elections, early voting must be offered for at least 9 consecutive days, beginning on the second Saturday before the election and ending on the Sunday before the election, for at least 8 hours per day. The first election at which early voting will be constitutionally required will be the 2024 Presidential Primary Election.
Ely Township resident's Early Voting Site will be at the Tilden Township Hall, located at 3145 County Road PG, Ishpeming. The hours the site will be open are from 10:00 am - 6:00 pm. Click the following link for more information: Early Voting Info 2024
Day-of voting for Ely Township Residents is still located at the Ely Township Hall from 7:00 am - 8:00 pm.
If you are unsure if you are registered to vote, please visit www.michigan.gov/vote to verify if you are registered and where you are registered. If you need to register to vote, stop in and see me at the Ely Township Office during normal business hours.
Also, did you know that you can request an Absent Ballot and don’t need a reason why? Michigan has made the voting process convenient for every voter. Just call or stop by for an Absent Ballot Application. Those who are on the permanent list will receive their application by mail. Anyone can be placed on the Permanent AV list if requested. The only exception is if you are a first time voter. In that case you must vote in person the first time.
If there is anything that I can help with, feel free to contact me at the office 906 486-6802 or email clerk@elytwp.com. I look forward to meeting with anyone who stops into the office.
Glenn Wing, Clerk
